"Georgia Justice Breaks New Ground With Judicial Maternity Leave."
In a recent Law 360 article "Ga. Justice Breaks New Ground With Judicial Maternity Leave", Atlanta-based partner Brannon Arnold is quoted.
Excerpts from the article are as follows:
It was a male mentor who told civil litigation attorney Brannon J. Arnold of Weinberg Wheeler Hudgins Gunn & Dial LLC never to plan a family around work when she was thinking about having children.
Arnold, a partner and member of the firm's management board, was with Weinberg Wheeler six years before having her daughter in 2014, when she had an ownership stake in the firm and was on track to becoming a partner. She had her son three years ago, after gaining partner status. Getting some solid work experience under her belt before having children helped her confidence when she took maternity leave, she said, knowing she had already earned the respect of colleagues and clients.
"People knew I had established myself, I was dependable, I was reliable and trustworthy," Arnold said. "I had kind of established that reputation for myself [so] that by the time I was ready to step out for three months and have a child, I was already on that path."
