"Take the Right Steps to Speed Resolution of Malpractice Litigation."
Weinberg Wheeler Hudgins Gunn & Dial Partner Carol Michel was recently cited in the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management in an article about proactive steps that can reduce time and costs of medical malpractice claims.
Michel notes the importance of the risk manager’s actions, once advised of an adverse event, which can significantly increase the speed of resolution and decrease the cost of litigation. She states that quickly informing defense counsel, working in tandem to develop a strategy in moving forward, and avoiding engaging with opposing party without guidance of counsel are, indeed, right steps to take to increase the speed of resolution in a medical malpractice litigation.
